Ron
Lowry leads our Music
Ministry. Our
music provides a vital part of our worship service with full choir members, ensembles,
solos, and congregational singing. The music is traditional. Ron
was born in Oklahoma, growing up in Phoenix, Arizona. Barbara, his wife, was born
in Missouri, later living in Arkansas and California. They met as students at
Grand Canyon College, a Baptist School in Phoenix. Ron
earned a BA degree from Grand Canyon College, and a Master's degree in Religious
Education from Southwestern Seminary, in 1963. He continued his education with
graduate studies in music at Houston Baptist University and at Texas Tech University.
Barbara has stayed more than busy as a homemaker, raising four children to love
the Lord. She included decorating and teaching pre-school in her activities. Ron
and Barbara served from 1960 -1963 at Wichita St. Baptist Church in Ft. Worth,
from 1963 -1968 at Westbury Baptist in Houston, from 1968 -1984 at First Baptist,
Lubbock, from 1984 - 1987 at Baptist Memorial Center in San Angelo, and from 1987
- 1999 at Trinity Baptist in Kerrville. Retiring from Trinity in 1999, they have
served as supply and interim minister for churches in the area, Faith Baptist
Church for 2 1/2 years and at First Baptist in Ingram for two fall/winter seasons. In
addition to their four children, Ron and Barbara are grandparents to 10 grandchildren.
They set aside their summer months to spend time enjoying and trying to keep up
with their family. In
his spare time, Ron enjoys fishing, fly-fishing and tying flies, bird hunting,
and sports in general. Barbara
enjoys quilting, gardening and scrap booking. The
Lowry's love the Lord and feel blessed to participate in the music program.
The
music program is open to all and everyone is encouraged to come and join. |
